Peach Blossoms in Xuzhou, Jiangsu
Seeing Off Cui the Ninth
|
Pei Di 716-?
Return to the mountains
deeper still deeper,
Exhaust every beauty
of hill and vale.
Don't imitate
those old fishermen,
Who roamed
only fleetingly
in Peach Blossom Gorge.

Guī shān shēnqiǎn qù,
Xū jìn qiū hè měi.
Mò xué wǔ líng rén,

Notes: The last couplet of this poem refers to Wang Wei's poem about two fishermen who discovered utopia in a mountain river valley, only to leave it and never be able to return.
We are guessing Pei Di wrote this poem while he was prefect of Xuzhou.
