The Yuelushuyuan was fist built in 976 of the Northern Song Dynasty. Within is a He Xi Platform named for Zhu Xi the Neo-Confucian philosopher of the Southern Song Dynasty. This character 富 Fu and another 壽 Shou, are an interesting story. In 1790 the master of the academy Luo Dian arranged a banquet in honor of the examination officials and the disciples who had passed the examinations. For some reason he invited a Daoist master to attend. This Daoist soaked a broom in yellow mud, handed it to Luo Dian and asked him to splash the characters on the wall. What a wonderful way for the Daoist to poke fun at these uptight Confucians!
