The Fanlou was the largest of 72 popular public houses in Dong Jing (Kaifeng) during the Northern Song dynasty. Rumor has it that the love affair between Emperor Weizhong and the beautiful courtesan Li Shishi was consumated here. It was also here that Song Jiang, hero of the novel Outlaws of the Marsh was granted amnesty by Emperor Weizhong. This is newly built structure in the recreation of Northern Song Kaifeng.
